Roberto Saccà

One of the leading lyric tenors. He is of Italo-German extraction and accomplished his big breakthrough in 1995 in Haydn's "Orfeo ed Euridice" under the direction of Mo. Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Vienna Festival. Since then, Roberto Saccà has been a much sought-after singer in all the major operatic theatres of the world. The core of his career is formed around the operas of Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti and Verdi, such as Tamino in "Die Zauberflöte", Ferrando in "Così fan tutte" and Alfredo in "La Traviata".

Mr. Saccà grew up in Germany and studied voice in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. Initial engagements first took him to Würzburg and Wiesbaden. From 1993 to 2003, he was on the roster at the Zurich Opera House, where, among other assignments, he sang the principal role in the world première of Herbert Willi's "Schlafes Bruder".

After the opening concert of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice under Mo. Riccardo Muti in 2003 Roberto Saccà sang the official inauguration of the Teatro La Fenice in the new production of "La Traviata" under Mo. Lorin Maazel (including DVD and world tv-transmission) in November 2004, highly acclaimed by the audience and the international press.

Highly acclaimed was his Titus at the State-Opera Berlin and his Baron Lummer in Richard Strauss' "Intermezzo" at the Zurich Opera House.

He works(ed) with the main orchestras and conductors such as Maurizio Benini, Semyon Bychkov, Ivor Bolton, Sylvain Cambreling, Bruno Campanella, Sir Andrew Davies, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Sir John Elliot Gardiner, Daniel Harding, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Christopher Hogwood, Fabio Luisi, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Franz Welser-Möst, Seiji Ozawa, Antonio Pappano, Georges Prêtre, Sir Georg Solti, Horst Stein, Christian Thielemann, Sebastian Weigle, etc.

He recorded on DVD "La Traviata" under Mo. L. Maazel, "Cosí fan tutte" and "Don Giovanni" both under Mo. N. Harnoncourt, "Gianni Schicchi" under Mo. S. Ozawa, "Messiah" under Mo. H. Rilling and several CD's including a solo CD with arias from Donizetti to Verdi.
